International Football is here and the start of MotoGP Season - Week 12, 2023

After a fantastic week of sport, we go into a more quiet week this time around. We saw some derby’s and classics, not only on the football pitch but also in cycling. Alcaraz dominated the final against Medvedev in Indian Wells, where Rybakina crowned herself as the winner with the women’s section.

Monday - 20th of March

Basketball, Dallas Mavericks - Memphis Grizzlies
This could be the Playoff matchup as it stands as of now. How will the Grizzlies work without Ja as this is another test without their star player.

Tuesday - 21st of March

Tennis, Miami Open, WTA
The start of the women’s section of the Miami Open, just like Indian Wells there’s 1000 points are up for grabs. Big stars will compete once again. Who will we see shine this time?

Wednesday - 22nd of March

Tennis, Miami Open, ATP
A day after the women start, the men will start their bracket. Same story as before, will we see an upset?

Basketball, Golden State Warriors - Dallas Mavericks
The Mavs and the Warriors both have a very similar record and are both on the brink of a direct playoff spot or entering the play-in tournament. With them they’re a couple of teams around them who have everything to play for. I can’t remember when the margins were this thin in search for the final spot for the post season, with some very stacked rosters too.

Thursday - 23rd of March

Football, Italy - England, Euro Qualification
This will be a rematch of the past European Cup final. Not only that, Italy, as the title defenders, has a point to prove. After they didn’t qualify for the World Cup, they need to show up as their pride as a footballing country is on the line.

Friday - 24th of March

Football, France - Netherlands, Euro Qualification
New head coach Ronald Koeman has a very tough first match against 2018 world cup winners and 2022 world cup runners-up France. Both teams lost to Argentina in the previous world cup and both have choosen different approaches for the future. Where France has chosen to stick with Deschamps and their believe in him to go on with this young team he has. Koeman has said that the Dutch will start with a “new” philosophy after Van Gaal: more attacking and with high pressing.

Football, Sweden - Belgium, Euro Qualification
Belgium also has a new coach and it would be very intersting to see what he will do to give Belgium hope after they’ve squandered a golden generation. Whereas Sweden has a fairly young squad, I believe they’ve had one for some time, with that has to come out at some point. Also Zlatan is back in the squad!

Saturday - 25th of march

Motorsports, Sao Paulo E-Prix, Formula E
Formula E is back this weekend in Brazil! One thing we know for sure with Formula E is that it’s gonna be action packed. This is the 6th round of the season and it looks like Wehrlein has a slightly comfortabel lead in the championship, however it’s early in the season and therefore way too early to call.

Football, Spain - Norway, Euro Qualification
Spain has a point to prove after a very middling or even bad world cup and Norway’s young talent are growing into their own spearheaded by Erling Haaland and running behind him Martin Ødegaard. This could be a very fun game to watch.

Sunday - 26th of march

Motorsports, Portuguese GP, Moto GP
I haven’t watched a lot of Moto GP (just some highlights here and there), but that changes this week. As the opening weekend of the MotoGP season starts this weekend I’m going to read into it a little and probably grab my first live race in Portimão.

That’s the weekly. Is there anything I’ve missed to write down? What are you excited for? Let me know.
